项目 - 总部位于上海的如恩设计研究室为大连一处被遗忘的工业园区注入新的生命力,将一组老化的化学研究院建筑群改造成"引庭"——一个颂扬适应性改造诗意的复合文化目的地。
这个4631平方米的项目解决了建筑学最引人深思的挑战之一:如何统一高度各异、立面迥异且经历数十年临时性改造的分散结构。如恩的解决方案既优雅又深刻——一个连续的耐候钢板墙体、屏风和雨棚系统环绕现有的U型建筑布局,将其完善为一个封闭的庭院,汲取传统中国园林设计的灵感。
引庭的独特之处在于其对阈限与过渡的精妙处理。设计并未强加单一的建筑语言,而是通过精心编排的材料对话来颂扬新旧之间的张力。选用原始耐候钢——因其工业相关性和记录时间流逝的能力而被选中——创造了一个次级立面层,在现有的灰泥建筑和改造后的内部空间之间进行调解。
功能规划同样周到,容纳了画廊、生活方式零售、酒店、电影院、剧场和办公空间,同时保持园区的内省特质。位于入口附近的公共图书馆作为对周边大学社区的欢迎姿态,而前工人宿舍则找到了作为现代办公空间的新用途。

Project - Neri&Hu Design and Research Office completed a striking adaptive reuse project in the heart of Dalian, transforming urban industrial heritage through innovative architectural language and thoughtful site integration. The Yard, Dalian Cultural Center converts a 40-year-old chemical research institute compound into a vibrant cultural destination, demonstrating the perfect synthesis of traditional industrial architecture with contemporary design thinking.
The compound is strategically positioned near university campuses and software parks, this 4631-square-meter complex captures the innovative spirit of adaptive reuse while paying homage to the region's industrial memory. The project's most distinctive feature lies in its continuous weathering Corten steel system that transforms the original U-shaped building configuration into an enclosed courtyard space, creating a new spatial order through a series of walls, screens and canopies.
Neri&Hu's ingenious design solution unifies 6 existing buildings with varying heights and distinct facades. The architects employed Corten steel as the primary surface material, chosen for its industrial relevance and capacity to record the passage of time through weathering processes. This material strategy creates a secondary facade layer that mediates between existing stucco facades and transformed interior spaces, generating architectural poetry through new-old dialogue.
The compound's programming encompasses galleries, lifestyle retail, hospitality, cinema, theater, and office space. The former workers' dormitory has been converted into office space, while a small library positioned near the entrance serves the public and surrounding university community. Segmented yet continuous spaces create natural narrative pauses within the circulation path, allowing each functional area to shine within the broader cultural narrative.
Most notably, the project transforms what was once an introverted parking lot into a contemplative plaza centered around a large rock feature, drawing inspiration from Chinese garden design principles. This demonstrates how contemporary adaptive reuse can push the boundaries of urban renewal possibilities while respecting historical memory.
