Project - Nestled amidst the lush mountains and serene Songshan Lake in Dongguan, China, the Banyan Tree Resort pays homage to the architectural heritage of the Lingnan region through its climate-responsive design approach. Conceived by gad, the sprawling resort seamlessly blends traditional elements with modern sensibilities, creating a tranquil oasis that harmonizes with its surroundings.

The resort's layout draws inspiration from the "one pond, two banks" concept of traditional Lingnan villages, with the hotel's public areas and guestrooms naturally segregated along an artificial inner lake. This ingenious planning not only optimizes functionality but also fosters a profound connection with the surrounding water scenery. Echoing the region's architectural DNA, the design incorporates quintessential Lingnan features such as open halls, covered walkways, and courtyards. However, these elements are reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, resulting in a dialogue between tradition and modernity.
