Atelier l'Abri
Feature:
Project - Tucked into the lush forests of Canada's Laurentian mountains, the elegantly minimalist Kanata Cabin designed by Montreal studio Atelier L'Abri offers a cosy pet-friendly retreat. Clad in weathering silver wood, the compact 60 sqm cottage features a gabled roof and charming arched entryway that frame views of the surrounding boreal landscape.
Despite its modest size, lofty interiors and expansive glazing give the home a feeling of spacious grandeur. The open-plan living area centres around a cleverly integrated nook for pets to nestle in, with a minimalist kitchen, dining space and sitting area flowing around it. Details like exposed beams, natural finishes and an exterior hot tub further enhance the soothing cabin atmosphere.
Built on a structural slab with thick highly insulated walls, the energy-efficient cottage has a reduced carbon footprint, with recycled cellulose insulation and locally sourced timber minimizing its environmental impact. Providing a sustainable base to experience the Mont Tremblant region's stunning nature and outdoor activities, Kanata Cabin demonstrates Atelier L'Abri's commitment to creating simple, sustainable spaces in harmony with their context.
