Feature:
Project - In the heart of Wuhan, CLOU Architects has reimagined the concept of a ski resort, transforming it from a simple sporting facility into a revolutionary 24-hour urban entertainment complex. Spanning an impressive 178,000 square meters, this innovative project sets a new standard for integrated leisure destinations in China, seamlessly blending indoor winter sports, retail experiences, and landscape design.
The resort's most striking feature is its half-kilometer-long indoor ski slope, soaring 100 meters high and wrapped in a groundbreaking pixelated multi-media façade. This architectural marvel goes far beyond traditional ski facilities, creating an immersive environment that dissolves boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. The design strategically arranges various entertainment, sports, and retail facilities around a central lake, creating a dynamic "urban living room" that pulses with energy throughout the day and night.
Driven by the growing popularity of snow sports among younger generations in China, the project responds to the cultural momentum sparked by the Beijing Winter Olympics. It's not just a ski resort, but a comprehensive entertainment ecosystem that includes ski schools, clubs, professional sports venues, hotels, and themed parks. The modular façade system, composed of terraced three-dimensional pixels, creates a unique visual identity that reflects the complex's multifaceted nature, transforming the Huangpi district into a contemporary landmark that celebrates both sport and leisure.
