项目 – Hawthorn Hood House是一栋巧妙平衡历史建筑保护和现代生活需求的阳光充足的家庭住宅。最初设计师们被雇来翻新现有房屋，但他们最终引导客户购买了更合适的项目地皮：一座具有浓郁历史特色但布局和日照受限的历史住宅。设计团队选择了与古宅的原有比例和质感对话，而不是与现代扩建形成鲜明对比，特别是其宏伟的室内空间和精致的琉璃屋顶。改建首先移除后部的旧扩建，重新利用阳光充沛的后院。新的起居空间面朝北方，拥抱自然光并框住花园景观，用标志性的屋顶线条感性交织，外观定义了整体空间。气势恢宏却亲密舒适的室内空间汲取了原有空间的宏伟，同时满足了业主作为永久家园的全部愿景。卧室和生活空间保留了正立面古典样貌，与周边环境谐和统一。项目新旧对话巧妙平衡，营造温暖明亮的家，兼顾场地保护、功能性和美学愉悦。

Project - The Hawthorn Hood House is a light-filled family home that skillfully balances heritage sensitivities with modern living needs. Originally approached to renovate an existing property, BENT Architecture ultimately guided their clients to purchase a more suitable site - a period home with strong character but limitations in layout and sunlight. Rather than contrast the modern addition, the architects chose to thoughtfully engage with and reinterpret the home's original proportions and textures, especially its grand interior volumes and intricate terracotta roof form.

The project began by removing a previous rear extension to harness the sun-drenched backyard. New living spaces were then oriented northwards to embrace natural light and frame garden views, defined externally by the home's signature roofline folding down in sympathetic response. The soaring yet cosy interiors draw upon the grandeur of the original while fulfilling all the family's aspirations for their forever home. Bedrooms and utilities remain nestled in the heritage envelope to the front as a nod to the surrounding neighborhood. The thoughtful dialogue between old and new creates a warm, light-filled home that deftly balances site sensitivity, functionality and aesthetic delight.
