Design Features: Casa Co is located in Guadalajara, Mexico, with architecture by JDEstudio and interiors by Aagnes Studio. Although the project unfolds at the scale of a private house, it places beauty back at the center of architectural thinking: not as surface decoration, but as an ordering force for space, material, light, and the rhythm of domestic life.

In contemporary architectural discourse, beauty is often treated as elusive, ornamental, or even secondary. Casa Co proposes a different reading. Here, beauty is not an afterthought applied to a finished building, but a spatial principle built through proportion, structure, courtyard, aperture, and material choice. It connects past, present, and future, allowing the house to become more than a container for daily life: it becomes a quiet field of time, spirit, and perception.

Light is the project's most important spatial guide. As the sun shifts throughout the day, the house changes with it. In the morning, light filters through the large trees in the garden; the pool becomes a reflective plane that gathers vegetation, sky, and architectural edges. Inside, travertine surfaces absorb and soften the light, revealing the weight and warmth of the material with subtle variation.

The interiors do not separate domestic life from nature. Large glass openings, timber surfaces, low furniture, dark planes, and garden views produce a continuous sequence of rooms and thresholds. Dining room, living room, corridor, and semi-outdoor areas are joined by a deliberately gradual rhythm, so entering, pausing, looking, and resting become part of the same experience.

The strength of Casa Co lies in this restrained spatial order. Wood, travertine, water, shadow, and dense planting create a calm, inward-looking atmosphere, giving the house the character of a private refuge within the city. Rather than treating beauty as a style, the project understands it as a reason for architecture to exist and as a way for everyday life to regain a bodily sense of order.

Design Team: Casa Co is a joint residential project by Aagnes Studio and JDEstudio. JDEstudio led the architectural design, while Aagnes Studio developed the interiors, allowing the building scale, courtyard relationship, material atmosphere, and furniture details to become part of one continuous spatial language.

Aagnes Studio is a design, furniture, and interiors practice based in Guadalajara, Mexico. Its work is rooted in a sensitive understanding of light, materials, silence, and the spatial awareness of inhabitation. The studio approaches aesthetics as an invitation to pause and reflect, building a dialogue between the traditional and the contemporary, the local and the global, the historical and the timeless.

JDEstudio is a Mexican architecture practice working across architecture, construction, and research. The studio understands the identity of architecture as closely tied to each family and to the place where a project is located. Its work frames architecture as a tool for shaping tangible and intangible, abstract and concrete, material and immaterial environments that enrich people's lives and the places they inhabit and share.

In Casa Co, JDEstudio's architectural framework and Aagnes Studio's interior design do not operate as separate layers. They meet through light, materials, furniture, courtyard, and domestic rhythm. Javier Dueñas Estrada served as lead architect for the project and is Partner and Creative Director at JDEstudio, where Jaime de Obeso is Partner and Chief Executive Officer.
