EKAR Architects

EKAR Architects is an architecture and design practice based in Bangkok, Thailand, led by architect Ekaphap Duangkaew. The studio works across residential, hospitality, commercial and workplace projects, using projects at different scales to examine how architecture responds to people, ways of living and local conditions.

EKAR describes architecture as a synthesis of aesthetic sensibility and functional usability. Its design process is built on thinking, analysis and connections, treating nature, society, culture, behaviour, taste and time as essential conditions of each site. The studio approaches every project as research that combines science and art, aiming to create a distinct sense of place and contribute positive change to users and the wider community.

The practice’s official portfolio includes Dog Human, Brandnew Field Good, The Sayla Hotel, Gump’s Cross Klongsan and EKAR New Office. Across these projects, the team pays close attention to material, climate, daily activity and local identity, using spatial organisation and construction detail to respond to specific conditions in Thailand.
