TEKI Design

TEKI Design was established in 2021 by Hiroshima-born designer Tatsuya Nishinaga. After graduating from Hiroshima University in 2011, Nishinaga joined SUPPOSE DESIGN OFFICE, where he spent a decade working across architecture and interiors. Based in Naka-ku, Hiroshima, the practice works in architecture, interior and product design as well as construction direction; its Gallery Yoneda space is also located in central Hiroshima.

The studio is guided by the idea of being 'where it should be, how it should be'. Faced with the excess of information in everyday life, it considers both what needs to be given form and what can be removed. Through small, careful acts of editing, material, use and place are brought into a more essential relationship. The result is rarely dependent on overt form; interfaces, light, touch and human movement establish a restrained and legible spatial order.

TEKI Design's work includes AQO, 2050 Coffee, Kyslik and Blue Bottle Coffee Harajuku Cafe. In 2024, 2050 Coffee received a Bronze Award at the Japan Space Design Awards, while AQO received an iF Design Award after being shortlisted for the 2023 Japan Space Design Awards. Izumiya Nobori-cho received an Encouragement Award in the 2022 Hiroshima Machizukuri Design Awards. The Harajuku cafe was designed by Nishinaga, with lighting consultancy by Filaments, construction by Studio and furniture by Mirai Sousaku-Jo.
