2026 Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence

For nearly six decades, the Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence have recognized forward-looking architectural design in Canada. Entrants must be architects registered in Canada or graduates holding a professional degree from an accredited Canadian school of architecture. Projects must be located in Canada or designed by a practice headquartered in Canada; international architects must enter with a Canadian partner.

Professional entries must be at the design stage, scheduled for construction, or under construction but not substantially complete by September 15, 2026, and must be intended for realization by the client. The jury considers form and detail, program, site and context, innovation, environmental performance, and issues of social and spatial justice, reconciliation, equity, and inclusion.

Submissions include a horizontal PDF of up to 12 pages, a project description, and one feature image, with a maximum file size of 30 MB. The professional entry fee is CAD 249 plus tax. English is recommended for jury review, although French is accepted. The competition opens on August 1 and closes on September 15, 2026.
