In the bustling heart of Tokyo, the Ginsen Nishi Shimbashi Building by Nikken Sekkei Ltd stands out with its striking multi-layered facade that pays homage to traditional Japanese residential architecture. Situated at a prominent intersection, the 12-story office tower features a series of angled overhanging eaves that cascade down the building's exterior, reminiscent of the layered rooflines found in historic Japanese homes. This unique facade design serves multiple purposes beyond its symbolic nod to the past. The deep wooden eaves provide shade and act as a psychological buffer between the lively street scene and the serene office interiors. Crafted from a varied mix of cedar wood pieces certified for carbon capture, the textured eaves add warmth and visual interest. Inside, the typical floors optimize environmental performance by orienting the office spaces away from the harsh western sun exposure. Floor-to-ceiling windows along the north and east sides extend the workspace outwards, blurring the lines between inside and the semi-outdoor "veranda" spaces created underneath the overhangs. With its distinctive yet functional form inspired by vernacular architecture, the Ginsen Nishi Shimbashi Building exemplifies how contemporary urban offices can blend modern needs with contextual design rooted in local traditions. The resulting symbiosis enriches the dense Tokyo streetscape. Tracing its origins back to 1900, Nikken Sekkei has established itself as a prominent force in the international architectural arena. NEXT Architects | Archicasting
Project Name: Watchtower Einderheide Location: Bergeijk, Netherlands Design Team: NEXT Architects Height: 26 meters Completion: 2024 Photography: Karl Banski, Koen Mol Feature: Project - NEXT Architects has completed the 26-meter-tall Watchtower Einderheide in Bergeijk, designed to offer visitors a panoramic view of the Brabantse Kempen forest while serving as a habitat for local bat species. The lookout tower integrates both recreational and ecological functions in a modest yet iconic structure that enhances the identity of Einderheide. The design features a spiral staircase leading to the viewing platform, where visitors can experience the forest from various heights. The structure, utilizing laminated larch and pine wood, includes multiple openings and notches at different levels, offering unique perspectives as visitors ascend. The tower's characteristic shape allows for unobstructed views through and above the forest canopy. In addition to its role as a viewing platform, the tower is designed to support the bat population by providing diverse habitats. Niches and cavities are integrated throughout the wooden structure, offering spaces for roosting, mating, and nesting. These features, developed with ecological advice from Jeroen Mos, replicate natural conditions, blending seamlessly into the forest environment. The wood used in the design, particularly laminated larch and thermally preserved pine, contributes to this integration, providing both structural stability and natural rough surfaces for bats to grip. The tower's base is made of a concrete foundation, which serves as a winter roost for bats. This nature-inclusive design follows other ecological projects by Amsterdam-based practice, NEXT Architects, such as the Bat Bridge and the Hopovers at De Centrale As. Commissioned by the Municipality of Bergeijk and supported by the Province of North Brabant and Boskalis, the project involved collaboration with WSP, Mos Ecological Advice and Research, and H+N+S landscape architects. The Watchtower Einderheide stands as a functional landmark within the forest's recreational network, balancing human interaction with wildlife conservation. The project was longlisted for the Nationale Houtbouwprijs 2024 and was a finalist for the Archello Awards 2024. Design Team - NEXT Architects is an international architecture firm established in 1999, working on design and research projects in urban planning, architecture, interior design, and infrastructure. Based in Amsterdam, the firm opened a second office in Beijing, China, in 2004. The practice is led by Bart Reuser, Marijn Schenk, and Michel Schreinemachers, and has developed into a diverse design team. Connection forms the central thesis of NEXT's approach—evident in their broadly oriented design practice and growing portfolio of noteworthy bridges—literal connections. By thinking on a broader level about the role of design within an environment, connection forms not only the common thread through their portfolio but also their working method. NEXT Architects collaborates in multidisciplinary teams to approach projects in innovative ways. With their curious character, desire to think outside the box, and broad knowledge base, they can bring together the right specialists and stakeholders to provide solutions. The strength of the office lies in developing strong ideas that become part of the specific context of a project in a convincing way. From exploration to inspiration, and from ambition to concept, form, and materialization—it revolves around the social, technical, and landscape context that makes each project unique. The most beautiful aspect of architecture is making ideas tangible, visualizing, specifying, and detailing to ultimately know for certain what they will create. By making what they conceive together, they are literally building the future together. Over the years, NEXT Architects' designs have gained international recognition, with their work widely published in professional publications and honored with numerous international design awards. Their design methodology combines rigorous architectural planning with keen insights into user experience, successfully achieving a balance between aesthetic quality and practical functionality. 2024 Previous Next
- S墙住宅 COLLAGE DESIGN STUDIO | Archicasting
Feature: Project - Breathing new life into an aging Bangkok residence, COLLAGE DESIGN STUDIO has crafted the captivating S Wall House. What began as a modest 50-yearold structure bore witness to tragedy before being reimagined into a contemporary sanctuary that pays homage to its storied past. The architects embraced the challenge of renovating within a tight budget, uncovering a remarkably intact wooden framework with wide, durable floor planks rarely seen today. Relocating the staircase outdoors allowed the former father's office to be repurposed into a striking pool area nested beneath the original resilient concrete arches. Privacy concerns sparked the ingenious inclusion of the sinuous "S" wall - a folding fiber cement partition that gracefully conceals and reveals. This sculptural element delineates space while fostering connectivity, embodying the fusion of old and new that defines the project. Echoing the traditional Thai Taitun design of open-air living areas beneath elevated homes, the downstairs blends nahtreen and outdoor realms in a light-filled setting. Upstairs, the juxtaposition of modern materials against the heritage structure continues in the master suite. The once-dim stairway now forms a luminous core linking floors and blurring indoor/outdoor boundaries. Throughout, cherished remnants intermingle with contemporary insertions, crafting an intergenerational narrative of resilience that honors the past while embracing new beginnings. Design Team - Established in 2012, Collage Design Studio is a Bangkok-based architectural practice guided by the radical notion of "embracing the perfection of imperfection." Under the leadership of principals Cherdsak Soisuwan and Puttichart Wanichtat, the firm has pioneered an avant-garde design ethos that celebrates flaws, imperfections and the opportunistic in architecture. Deviating from the relentless pursuit of flawlessness, Collage finds beauty in organic imperfections and the natural progression of materials over time. Their contextually grounded designs incorporate existing imperfections seamlessly, allowing projects to evolve authentically while fostering a deep connection to their environments. Rather than viewing constraints as limitations, Collage sees them as catalysts for ingenuity. Limits spark remarkable design solutions as the practice uncovers new possibilities by challenging conventions of beauty and design. This exploratory approach resonates with the architectural community, inspiring colleagues to discover the hidden potentials in imperfection. Through their built work, Collage crafts captivating spaces that evoke wonder, surprise and delight. Imperfections manifest as unexpected detailing that imbues the firm's designs with a soulful, textured character resonating at a profound human level. By fostering a collaborative studio culture, the team continuously pushes conceptual boundaries to redefine architectural beauty. Previous Next

Project Name: null² Location: Osaka, Japan Design Team: NOIZ Total Floor Area: 655.46 m² Completion: February 2025 Photography: Taichi Ano, Tomoyuki Kususe Feature: NOIZ Architects has unveiled the groundbreaking null² Pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo site, a transformative project that challenges traditional exhibition architecture typology through innovative responsive building approaches. Located in the core area of the 2025 Japan International Exposition venue, this exhibition facility for Yoichi Ochiai's "Polishing Life" theme represents a bold reimagining of architectural regeneration. The building's most distinctive feature lies in its ingenious integration of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design concepts, seamlessly transforming voxel-based architectural language into contemporary space that embodies the spirit of "interspace." This design strategy directly responds to the site's inherent futuristic context---through a unified design language that simultaneously respects digital architectural heritage and meets modern functional requirements, challenging conventional exhibition architectural conventions. Under the leadership of architect Keisuke Toyoda, this project exemplifies the firm's commitment to reinterpreting digital architectural typology, a typology that carries profound technological significance and craft traditions. The pavilion transcends the limitations of typical exhibition architecture, integrating display and experiential functions within a unified programmatic framework, creating spaces that serve visitor needs while promoting cultural experiences. The interior design creates ethereal visual effects through lighting fixtures crafted using traditional voxel techniques, these luminaires appear to float randomly throughout each floor, both echoing traditional craftsmanship and embodying contemporary spatial aesthetics---elements that are core to both voxel brand identity and digital cultural heritage. This design approach reinforces the building's role as a bridge connecting past and present, tradition and modernity. The completed 655.46-square-meter pavilion marks a pivotal moment in digital architecture regeneration, while establishing new benchmarks for Japanese historic building preservation and adaptive reuse. The project demonstrates how design can create bold forward-thinking environments while respecting historical context, inspiring the fusion of cultural heritage and innovation. MAT Office has unveiled their latest project, the South Wind Zhoushan Summer Hotel Phase II, a thoughtful expansion of their original design completed five years ago. Located in Zhangzhou Village on Zhujiajian Island, this renovation breathes new life into two existing three-story houses, transforming them into a refined seaside retreat. The project stands out for its clever spatial reorganization and material choices that pay homage to local building traditions while introducing a contemporary aesthetic. MAT Office separated the courtyards of the seaside and hillside buildings, creating a series of interconnected spaces that flow from the beach to the hotel's inner sanctum. A striking feature is the floating bridge that links the middle courtyard to the second floor of the seaside building, offering guests unique circulation paths and viewpoints. The architects employed a palette of materials that nod to the region's architectural heritage, including terrazzo, washed stone, and cement plaster. These are juxtaposed with warm multi-layer plywood and sleek metal elements, creating a harmonious blend of textures and tones. The hillside building's facade, with its horizontal windows reminiscent of modernist designs, contrasts the village's ubiquitous white square houses. This project not only elevates the guest experience but also addresses the delicate balance between tourism development and cultural preservation in rural coastal areas. The South Wind hotel offers a "refined" homestay experience that aligns with contemporary aspirations for island living while promoting a slower, more relaxed approach to leisure. Founded in 2013 by TANG Kangshuo and ZHANG Miao, MAT Office has rapidly established itself as a formidable presence in the architectural design industry. Feature: Project - Nestled in the heart of Ginza lies a forest - meet tree GINZA, the new shop designed by Marui Namiki for the sweets and cosmetics brand meet tree. Behind meet tree stands a timber company in Nakatsugawa, Gifu Prefecture, with over 100 years of history sustainably nurturing the revered hinoki cypress forests of the Kiso River upstream region. To showcase the allure of their treasured cypress wood, the company envisioned this shop as a sanctuary where customers can experience goods thoughtfully crafted from the blessings of the forest. The outstanding environment of the first floor with 5.3m high ceiling inspired an audacious wooden vaulted roof that immerses customers in a deep green hinoki forest. Two powerful 105-sided cypress vaults float over the space, emanating a unique sense of levitation while asserting an imposing presence on the cityscape. The vaults gently delineate areas for sweets and cosmetics. Every piece of the vaults is built from Nakatsugawa cypress, imaginatively cut into trapezoids and fixed together with long screws to form the sweeping arcs. Suspended from the walls and slender steel pillars, the vaults are engineering marvels transposing the wonder of the forest into the concrete jungle of Ginza. Studio Kota Architecture | Archicasting
Project Name: Set N Rise Bali Restaurant Location: Mengwi, Indonesia Design Team: Studio Kota Architecture Total Floor Area: 309 m² Completion: 2025 Photography: Indra Wiras Feature: Project - Indonesian architecture studio Studio Kota Architecture completed the Set N Rise restaurant project in Pererenan, Bali, creating a semi-open-air Asian grill restaurant that ingeniously weaves the unique terraced landscapes of Bali into the very core of its architectural concept. The project is positioned within a calm and understated neighborhood just minutes from the bustling Canggu area, drawing inspiration from terasering—the traditional Balinese rice terrace system. The project's most compelling design feature lies in its sophisticated response to a challenging narrow, sloping site—the architects masterfully handled the terrain conditions with a dramatic 5-meter elevation drop from front to back. The building is carefully shaped to follow the natural contours of the land, rather than imposing a singular gesture, the architecture steps down gradually with the terrain, creating a spatial sequence that mirrors the layered character of the surrounding rice fields. The building's triangular footprint opens toward the east and south, optimizing exposure to natural daylight and maximizing views of the terraced landscape. This orientation ensures that nearly every part of the building maintains a strong visual connection to the outdoors, reinforcing a seamless relationship between interior space and nature. Inside the restaurant, the dining areas unfold across four staggered platforms, each aligned with the site's natural topography. A central ramp acts as the main circulation spine, allowing guests to move fluidly through the space while maintaining accessibility across all levels. Most striking is the building's material expression strategy, which demonstrates a commitment to locality, sustainability, and sensory experience. Pigmented cement defines the floors of each platform, while rough-textured concrete and locally sourced timber create a tactile dialogue between mass and warmth. The facade is wrapped in horizontal timber fins, referencing the contour lines of rice terraces as seen from above. These slats function as passive shading and rain protection while allowing daylight and breeze to filter through, enhancing the building's environmental performance in Bali's tropical climate. Design Team - Studio Kota Architecture stands as a distinguished Jakarta-based architectural practice that has established an exceptional reputation in innovative Indonesian design. Under the creative direction of design principal Erick Kristanto, the firm has developed a reputation for creating innovative solutions across cultural, residential, commercial, and urban design typologies. Kristanto brings exceptional international experience to the practice, having earned his Master of Architecture degree from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, and previously serving as project leader at Rem Koolhaas's OMA Hong Kong and Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) New York. This global perspective, combined with deep local understanding, positions Studio Kota uniquely within Indonesia's architectural landscape. The firm's design philosophy emphasizes that constructing a concept is as important as executing a building, not rushing to architectural solutions but believing that architecture should be a result of thorough understanding of the context. Through dialogue with clients, they formulate the main ingredients for the project then offer their expertise to transform ideas into reality. Studio Kota believes that fresh ideas come from collaboration with clients and other disciplines, they love to challenge themselves and push the design boundary further, with innovation being the key to keeping their business running. Through this thoughtful synthesis of local material usage, understanding of traditional spatial logic, and contemporary architectural language, Studio Kota has established itself as a significant contributor to Indonesia's contemporary architectural discourse, creating architectural works that are both rooted in place and embrace global design vision. 2025 Previous Next
Sasaki | Archicasting
Sasaki has completed an innovative addition and renovation to the Conte Forum arena at Boston College, creating the new Hoag Pavilion that supports the university's men's and women's basketball programs. Rather than constructing an entirely new facility, the architects sensitively integrated a contemporary pavilion into the existing 1990s arena building. The pavilion houses dedicated facilities for the basketball teams including strength and conditioning, sports medicine, nutrition areas, lounges, locker rooms, and practice spaces - all secured within its own access-controlled environment. Branding and graphics celebrating team history and outfitted with the latest New Balance gear create an inspiring atmosphere for players and recruits. A major intervention opened up the formerly windowless practice gym with full-height glazing, allowing natural light to pour in and connecting the teams' training activities to campus views. The lightwell and transparent entrance vestibule generate buzz around the arena on game days. On the exterior, the curtain wall's sleek glass and stone facade complements Boston College's signature collegiate gothic architecture while giving the arena an elegant, contemporary update. The redesigned plaza uses smart grading changes to increase accessibility and create flexible space for events like tailgating. With innovative programming moves and athletic branding moments integrated into functional yet visually compelling design moves, Sasaki has crafted an inspiring home for Boston College basketball that directly benefits player development and the overall campus experience. Founded in 1953 by Hideo Sasaki, the interdisciplinary design firm Sasaki has spent seven decades defining the future of place through innovative architecture, landscape architecture, planning, urban design, and interdisciplinary expertise. This "museum with no collection" was created to showcase the intimate relationship between Rotterdam and its port. The building takes the form of a stack of five rotated exhibition spaces, each strategically oriented to frame specific views of the surroundings through carefully positioned "windows to the world" that offer panoramic vistas of the North Sea, coastline, and port facilities. At the heart of the building is a 22-meter-tall atrium featuring suspended yellow sculptures and a kinetic installation that symbolizes the perpetual motion of port activities. The exhibition areas, designed by Kossmanndejong, unfold across the floors – beginning with Rotterdam's current port operations on the first level, exploring its historical significance on the second, focusing on future developments and global role on the third, and addressing environmental challenges and sustainable solutions on the fourth. Each level's exhibition content directly corresponds to the view framed by its window. The building's exterior is characterized by bright red staircases that twist their way up the structure, providing free public access to viewing platforms on each level and the rooftop. This design element transforms Portlantis into not just an exhibition center but also a public viewing tower, creating a beacon-like presence in the landscape. Sustainability anchors the project through demountable structures, circular economy principles, and energy-positive operations, generating 30 percent more energy than it consumes. Constructed from resilient, port-sourced materials designed to withstand maritime conditions, the building embodies both the industrial spirit of Rotterdam and the port's ambitious transition toward a sustainable future. MADA in the Little Garden 2025 Previous Next
- Highnote 公寓 Studioninedots | Archicasting
Feature: Project - The newly completed Highnote Residential Tower in Almere, the Netherlands designed by Studioninedots, is a striking addition to the city's skyline. The 16,000 sqm building features a unique triangular base enclosing a series of interconnected "urban rooms" for the public to enjoy. These multifunctional indoor and outdoor spaces flow into one another, sparking the imagination with their versatility. A continuous colonnade of strong yet abstract lines borders the urban rooms, providing a gradual transition from the vibrant city to the private residences above. The tower itself houses 157 contemporary dwellings, including 67 "friends' apartments" for two sharing tenants - the first such units in Almere. The eye-catching facade of soft red concrete shifts in color throughout the day thanks to its monochromatic palette. Each stacked volume features its own rhythmic grid of robust concrete columns recessed at angles to create dramatic interplay between light and shadow. From the prominent location next to Almere's city hall, Highnote Residential Tower makes a striking first impression at the entrance to the city center with its leaning silhouette visible from all angles. This future-focused building demonstrates creative solutions to challenges like residual urban sites and compact footprints. Design Team - Founded in 2011, Amsterdam-based Studioninedots has carved out a reputation for creating imaginative spaces that provoke wonder. Whether designing houses, civic buildings, or urban plans, the 25-person firm infuses each project with unexpected moments that stir human perception. Studioninedots embraces disruption as the counterpart to innovation, playfully challenging architectural conventions to foster new typologies with versatile interpretations. Led by founders Albert Herder, Vincent van der Klei and Metin van Zijl, alongside associates like Ike Gronheid and Jurjen van der Horst, Studioninedots' human-centric process activates and transforms complex urban sites. As contexts evolve, the firmpursues progressive solutions tailored to emerging communal and circular lifestyles. By distilling issues down to their essence, Studioninedots translates insightful concepts into exceptional structures. With contextual awareness, precise moves, and artisanal details, they conceive spaces with inherent beauty. Daily explorations beyond architectural borders reinforce the Studioninedots approach. The firm's raw Amsterdam studio foments creativity through its unfinished, adaptable loft character. Testing materials, curating installations, or hosting parties, the space's flexibility sparks inspiration. By upending conventions, Studioninedots stays ahead of habits. Project Name: Mareterra Monaco Complex Location: Monaco Design Team: Valode & Pistre Total Floor Area: 60000 m² Completion: 2024 Photography: Philippe Chancel, Hufton+Crow, Loïc Thébaud Feature: Project - Valode & Pistre has completed their landmark project - Mareterra Complex in Monaco, reinterpreting the concept of land reclamation through innovative architectural approaches. This 6-hectare development serves both as a residential district and a thoughtfully crafted urban extension that appears completely natural despite its artificial origins. The project's most distinctive feature is its technical achievement: 18 reinforced concrete caissons, each 30 meters high and weighing 10,000 tons, form a protective barrier that follows the natural -30 meter isobath. This engineering solution maintains critical water circulation patterns while creating a stable foundation in a seismically active region, demonstrating how infrastructure can respect natural systems. The spatial layout is carefully orchestrated, centered around an artificial hill densely planted with mature stone pines that creates a visual anchor and natural transition. The design creates a harmonious flow through tiered programming: waterfront villas reminiscent of traditional Riviera settlements, apartment buildings rising in tiers to maximize sea views, and a southern marina section activated by restaurants and retail spaces. The project's uniqueness lies in its pedestrian-focused approach, transforming what could have been an exclusive enclave into a genuine urban district. Through extensive public spaces including a waterfront promenade, central plaza, and lush parkland, the designers have created a space that seamlessly integrates with Monaco's existing urban fabric. The crown jewel is Renzo Piano's apartment building standing on piles above the water, creating a dramatic dialogue between architecture and sea that embodies the project's commitment to innovation and harmony. Design Team - Founded in 1980 by Denis Valode and Jean Pistre, Valode & Pistre has evolved into a leading international architecture firm known for its comprehensive approach to design. Based in Paris with a subsidiary in Beijing, the practice is now led by the founding partners alongside seven associates, executing projects across France and globally throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Central America. The firm employs a holistic methodology that integrates multiple disciplines under one roof: architecture, urban planning, interior design, BIM management (VP BIM), construction oversight (VPX), façade engineering (VP&Green), and environmental consultancy (Espace Temps). This integrated structure allows Valode & Pistre to maintain exceptional quality control across diverse typologies. Their design philosophy emphasizes that "each project is enriched by its setting and places people at the heart of architectural design." The team is committed to transferring innovations between sectors while prioritizing quality of life considerations, approaching each project with fresh perspective while drawing on deep expertise. The firm's founders have received numerous accolades. Denis Valode received his Architect's Diploma from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in 1969, was awarded the Académie d'Architecture Silver Medal in 1988, and the Gold Medal in 1999 jointly with Jean Pistre. Jean Pistre received his architectural diploma in 1974, shares many of the same honors, and in 2011 was appointed President of the Urban Council of the Skolkovo Foundation, overseeing a major international science center project near Moscow. Throughout their four-decade practice, Valode & Pistre has consistently viewed international experience as an opportunity to master cutting-edge design tools and the highest environmental quality standards, cementing their reputation as thoughtful creators of contextually responsive architecture that enhances the human experience. 2024 Previous Next

2024 Previous Next
- NEW LIGHT POTTERY ninkipen! | Archicasting
< 返回 NEW LIGHT POTTERY ninkipen! 2025 Previous Next
- Mohegan Trail住宅 Bates Masi + Architects | Archicasting
2023 Previous Next

Tomohiro Hata Architect and Associates has crafted a remarkable residential design that seamlessly interweaves the heritage of Kyoto's rural architecture with contemporary living. The House in Muko emerges as a harmonious composition, paying homage to the region's historic farm-style habitations while boldly reinterpreting them for the present day. Nestled amidst lush farmlands and bamboo forests, the project beautifully captures the essence of Kyoto's agricultural settlements. The architects astutely recognized two defining characteristics of traditional farmhouses: the spacious living areas encompassing open spaces and fields, and the hierarchical clustering of buildings centered around the main house. Reimagining these elements through a modern lens, Hata's design disperses with the conventional hierarchy, instead allowing small residential clusters to collide and merge seamlessly. This organic interplay creates an expansive, unified living expanse that echoes the spirit of the old farmhouses, yet with a distinctly contemporary flair. The House in Muko exemplifies a deft architectural dialogue, layering the area's agricultural heritage with urban modern lifestyles. By adroitly bridging these two realms, Hata has crafted a residence that extends a profound connection to local traditions while expanding the boundaries of domestic space for today's urban dwellers. Established in 2005, Tomohiro Hata Architect and Associates has carved an exceptional niche by seamlessly blending Japan's rich architectural heritage with contemporary design sensibilities. Feature: Project - Tucked into the lush landscape between the sea and mountains near Puerto Escondido, Mexico, the newly unveiled Orchid Pavilion provides a serene sanctuary for preserving native orchid species. Designed by Mexico City-based CCA Centro de Colaboración Arquitectónica for Casa Wabi Foundation, the graceful wooden structure embraces simplicity and local craftsmanship. CCA's design focuses on creating the ideal growing conditions for orchids from the Oaxacan coast, with humidity, shade, and ventilation integrated into the pavilion's form and details. Twelve custom pyramid-shaped ceramic vessels nestled in the frame collect and slowly release water to irrigate the orchids below without the need for manual watering. Local wood warms the interiors, while slatted screens allow breezes and dappled light to permeate. The meditative experience continues for visitors, who descend to the ground level to observe the diverse orchids up-close. CCA aimed to provide a space for relaxation and contemplation amidst the noise of daily life - evoking a sense of ikigai, the Japanese concept of finding joy and purpose in being. As Casa Wabi's latest addition, the understated yet poetic Orchid Pavilion continues the Foundation's ethos of fostering social development through art and architecture. Its focus on traditional techniques and materials also ties back to the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, finding beauty in imperfection and simplicity. The pavilion joins a growing ensemble of well-crafted structures on the grounds, united by their elegant interpretation of contextual design. Design Team - Founded in Mexico City in 2008, Centro de Colaboración Arquitectónica (CCA) has rapidly emerged as a leading young practice pushing boundaries through research-driven work. Led by Bernardo Quinzaños, a graduate of Universidad Iberoamericana, CCA operates as an interdisciplinary studio focused on social impact. Their diverse projects range from wineries to schools, unified by an experimental approach and collaborative process. CCA has garnered honors including the Architectural League of New York’s Emerging Voices award in 2019. Other accolades recognize their angular timber Community Center, brutalist concrete Children’s Club, and sensitive hillside Casa Moulat. Partners Quinzaños and Santiago Vélez, who joined in 2016, lead a dynamic team tackling projects across Mexico. CCA continues shaping contemporary Mexican architecture through inventive spaces encouraging community. 2023 Previous Next
