Project Name: Sachibaru Village Location: Nanjo City, Okinawa, Japan Design Team: STUDIO MONAKA Total Floor Area: 142.42 m² Building Footprint: 122.55 m² Site Area: 584.39 m² Structure: Wooden construction, 2 stories above ground Design Period: January 2022 - January 2023 Construction Period: May 2023 - March 2024 Completion Date: March 2024 General Contractor: Arakaki Construction Structural Engineer: Ensake Structural Design / Ko Ensake Photographer: Yoshiaki Ida Feature: Project - Nestled in an ancient forest near the ocean in Nanjo City, Okinawa, Sachibaru Village emerges as a groundbreaking architectural project that challenges conventional design principles. STUDIO MONAKA, led by architects Yasushi Okayama, Shuhei Morita, and Kenichiro Nakamoto, has created a remarkable space that inverts the modernist dictum "form follows function" to spectacular effect. The project's most distinctive feature lies in its deliberate rejection of predetermined usage patterns. Responding to the client's desire for an undefined purpose, the architects crafted what they call a "third place" - a fluid environment that serves as a canvas for children's growth and learning. This philosophical approach manifests in a design that harmoniously integrates with its historic setting, carefully weaving between existing Ryukyu limestone formations and centuries-old trees. The 142-square-metre structure demonstrates exceptional environmental sensitivity, with the architects refusing to fell any trees during construction. Instead, they allowed the natural topography of the sloped site to guide the building's form, creating a dialogue between architectural intervention and landscape. The site, marked by ancient agricultural terraces dating back to the Ryukyu Kingdom period, retains its historical character while embracing contemporary design elements. What sets Sachibaru Village apart is its innovative prioritization of exterior spaces, with interior areas serving merely as complementary elements. This reversal of traditional architectural hierarchy results in a series of interconnected spaces that blur the boundaries between inside and out. The project exemplifies a distinctly Okinawan approach to space-making, characterized by generosity and openness, while establishing a new paradigm for educational environments that prioritize freedom and spontaneity over rigid functionality. The completed structure, with its modest footprint of 122.55 square metres spread across two floors, stands as a testament to how contemporary architecture can respect historical context while pushing the boundaries of conventional program definition. Design Team - STUDIO MONAKA, established in 2015 in Kyoto, Japan, stands as an innovative architectural practice that transcends conventional design boundaries. Founded by three visionary architects - Yasushi Okayama, Shuhei Morita, and Kenichiro Nakamoto - all born in 1987, the firm has evolved into a multidisciplinary studio that approaches architecture as a catalyst for community engagement and environmental harmony. The practice operates through dual headquarters - their main studio in Kyoto's historic Funaoka Park and a satellite office in Okinawa, established in 2018. This geographical diversity allows them to respond sensitively to both urban and tropical contextual challenges. Their portfolio spans residential, commercial, and public realm projects, with a particular emphasis on creating what they term "background architecture" - spaces that naturally foster human interaction and environmental connection. STUDIO MONAKA's design philosophy is distinguished by their unique approach to architectural programming, often beginning with exterior spatial planning before developing interior solutions. This methodology has garnered recognition, including the 6th Okinawa Architecture Award's Encouragement Prize in 2020. The firm's expertise encompasses master planning, architectural design, interior design, and environmental consulting, with a strong focus on community-driven projects. Under the leadership of Okayama, Morita, and Nakamoto, supported by a team of eleven professionals including certified architects and project designers, STUDIO MONAKA continues to push the boundaries of contemporary Japanese architecture while maintaining a deep respect for contextual and cultural sensitivities. 2024 Previous Next

Feature: Project - Rising 50 stories above the North Sydney skyline, the slender 88 Walker Hotel and Office Building masterfully integrates heritage and modernity. Australian practice fitzpatrick+partners designed the tower as two curved forms - one grounded, one hovering - that contrast with the robust proportions of neighboring highrises. Cantilevering dramatically over a historic fire station, the shard-like tower combines boutique offices and a 252-room hotel. The project optimizes the challenging site to forge new pedestrian connections through North Sydney's transforming CBD. Careful planning stitches together hotel and office programs into a singular sculptural expression. Angled columns enable the southern volume to cantilever over the existing pub, creating expansive 600 sqm floorplates. Further sculpture is found in the moving of exit stairs to the exterior, leaving column-free office interiors blessed by panoramic views. The ground plane features a lively multi-story lobby, a seamless fusion of interior and exterior worlds. Designed for a 5-star sustainability rating, the tower's dynamic contours bring distinction to the crowd of boxy towers in this fast-developing corporate hub. Design Team - Founded in 2001, Fitzpatrick+Partners has emerged as one of Australia’s leading architectural design firms, with projects that combine innovation and sustainability. Like a movie director, the practice recognizes that excellent architecture requires coordination across disciplines to progressively realize a common vision. They aim to translate clients’ aspirations into successful projects within site constraints, creating engaging spaces for users. While actively adopting sustainable systems, Fitzpatrick+Partners continually questions and searches for optimal solutions. Looking ahead, they believe thoughtful design and construction can enable buildings to adapt to change over time, prioritizing quality over quantity. 2023 Previous Next

Project Name: NOT A HOTEL FUKUOKA Location: Fukuoka, Japan Design Team: axonometric + NKS2 architects Total Floor Area: 1,259.42 m² Completion Date: August 2023 Photographers: YASHIRO PHOTO OFFICE, Kosei Kojima Structural Design: Mika Araki Structural Design Office (now Graph Studio) Main Contractor: Matsuyama Construction Landscape Design: DESIGN NETWORK ASSOCIATES Interior Design: Nomura Kogei A.N.D. Mechanical Engineering: SEED Design Supervision: IMD Alliance + Orange and Partners Lighting Design: ModuleX Building Height: 19.92 meters Floors: 5 above ground Site Area: 530.20 m² Feature: Project - In the heart of Fukuoka's tranquil residential landscape, a revolutionary hospitality concept emerges that challenges traditional notions of living and travel. NOT A HOTEL FUKUOKA, designed by axonometric and NKS2 architects, stands as a radical reimagining of urban accommodation—a "distributed hotel" that blurs the boundaries between temporary stay and permanent residence. The project's most striking innovation lies in its sculptural verticality, conceived as a "three-dimensional city" where eight distinctly conceptualized rooms are meticulously stacked to reflect contemporary lifestyle diversity. Each room is a unique ecosystem, ranging from dedicated workspace configurations with expansive desks to culinary-focused spaces designed for private chef experiences. Strategically nestled adjacent to a park and shrine, the building's design demonstrates a nuanced dialogue with its surrounding urban fabric. The architects have masterfully fragmented the building's volume, breaking down the mass to echo the scale of neighboring detached houses. This approach creates a facade that resembles both a small mountain and an organic urban landscape, simultaneously respecting and transforming its context. Sophisticated environmental consideration is evident in the carefully angled terraces, each surrounded by distinctive plantings and positioned to mitigate visual intrusion while maintaining an open, green-facing orientation. The result is an architectural intervention that seamlessly integrates with the existing urban ecosystem while pointing towards future living paradigms. With its flexible technological infrastructure, NOT A HOTEL FUKUOKA enables users to reimagine travel as a lifestyle—a fluid, interconnected experience that transcends traditional hospitality boundaries. Design Team - In the dynamic landscape of contemporary architectural practice, axonometric emerges as a visionary design firm that transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries. Established in 2021 and headquartered in Fukuoka, Japan, the practice has rapidly distinguished itself through a holistic approach to spatial design that integrates architecture, interior design, landscape, and urban planning. Led by CEO and founding principal Kei Sasaki, a first-class architect with a distinguished academic background from Kyushu University and Tokyo University of Arts, axonometric represents a new generation of design thinking. Sasaki's prior experience at SOU FUJIMOTO ARCHITECTS has significantly influenced the firm's innovative design philosophy, characterized by nuanced spatial relationships and contextual sensitivity. The firm's portfolio, exemplified by projects like NOT A HOTEL FUKUOKA, demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of architectural intervention. Their design methodology goes beyond mere construction, focusing on creating adaptive environments that respond to evolving human experiences. With a multidisciplinary team of architects, urban development consultants, and design professionals, axonometric has already garnered significant recognition, including selection for the 2025 Japan World Exposition design proposals and finalist status in international competitions. By seamlessly blending technological innovation, contextual awareness, and profound spatial intelligence, axonometric is redefining architectural practice for the 21st century. 2023 Previous Next

2025 Previous Next

< 返回 Villa M R.E.A.D. & Architects 建筑面积:151.54 m² 竣工时间:2024年 摄影:DAICI ANO, Kosuke Ino 设计特色: R.E.A.D. R.E.A.D. 设计团队 - R.E.A.D. R.E.A.D. R.E.A.D. 2024 Previous Next

Project Name: Portlantis Visitor and Exhibition Center Location: Rotterdam, The Netherlands Design Team: MVRDV Total Floor Area: 3533 m² Completion: 2025 Photography: Ossip van Duivenbode Feature: Project - The Portlantis Visitor and Exhibition Center, designed by MVRDV and located at the westernmost point of the Port of Rotterdam, opened to the public on March 22nd, 2025. This "museum with no collection" was created to showcase the intimate relationship between Rotterdam and its port. The building takes the form of a stack of five rotated exhibition spaces, each strategically oriented to frame specific views of the surroundings through carefully positioned "windows to the world" that offer panoramic vistas of the North Sea, coastline, and port facilities. At the heart of the building is a 22-meter-tall atrium featuring suspended yellow sculptures and a kinetic installation that symbolizes the perpetual motion of port activities. The exhibition areas, designed by Kossmanndejong, unfold across the floors – beginning with Rotterdam's current port operations on the first level, exploring its historical significance on the second, focusing on future developments and global role on the third, and addressing environmental challenges and sustainable solutions on the fourth. Each level's exhibition content directly corresponds to the view framed by its window. The building's exterior is characterized by bright red staircases that twist their way up the structure, providing free public access to viewing platforms on each level and the rooftop. This design element transforms Portlantis into not just an exhibition center but also a public viewing tower, creating a beacon-like presence in the landscape. Sustainability anchors the project through demountable structures, circular economy principles, and energy-positive operations, generating 30 percent more energy than it consumes. Constructed from resilient, port-sourced materials designed to withstand maritime conditions, the building embodies both the industrial spirit of Rotterdam and the port's ambitious transition toward a sustainable future. Selgascano + Diego Cano | Archicasting
Feature: Project - Nestled in the hills of Los Angeles' Mount Washington neighborhood, the La Canaria House by Selgascano and Diego Cano offers a remarkable response to the city's iconic sunset views and unrelenting sunshine. This residential gem seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living, embracing the region's temperate climate with a ingenious design approach. The standout feature of the project is its striking golden aluminum mesh envelope, which envelops both the interior spaces and the expansive outdoor terrace. Acting as a visually arresting sunshade, this intricate lattice not only filters the intense California rays but also frames the breathtaking 180-degree panoramas that stretch from downtown LA to the Hollywood hills. Selgascano and Cano's design celebrates the fluidity between interior and exterior realms, creating a harmonious dialogue between the built environment and nature. The envelope's open structure invites verdant growth, with plans for various creepers, bushes, and ten different palm tree varieties to eventually colonize the vibrant canary-yellow cage, blurring the boundaries between architecture and landscape. Driven by a desire for affordability without compromising craftsmanship, the architects meticulously prefabricated and shipped the house's components, enabling efficient on-site assembly. This approach yielded a bespoke, handcrafted quality while maintaining costeffectiveness – a remarkable achievement in a city renowned for its high construction expenses. Design Team - Founded in Madrid in 1998 by José Selgas and Lucía Cano, SelgasCano has emerged as a pioneering architectural practice renowned for its innovative approach to materiality, color, and the harmonious integration of the built environment with nature. Led by the visionary duo, this Spanish atelier has garnered global acclaim for its creative exploration of unconventional materials and the seamless dialogue it fosters between architecture and its surrounding landscapes. SelgasCano's portfolio showcases a diverse array of remarkable projects, including auditoriums, congress centers, office buildings, and pavilions, each a testament to the firm's commitment to pushing boundaries and challenging conventional architectural norms. Their designs are characterized by a bold use of polychromy, translucent facades crafted from cutting-edge materials like ETFE and polycarbonate, and a profound respect for the existing natural context. With numerous accolades, including the Kunstpreis by the Akademie der Künste in Berlin and the Architects of the Year prize by the German Design Council, SelgasCano has solidified its position as a vanguard in the realm of contemporary architecture, continuously redefining the relationship between the built and natural environments. Previous Next

Franz&Sue's recently completed Leopold-Kohr-Straße Primary and Secondary School in Vienna sets a new benchmark for contemporary learning environments. Situated in the city's northern "Transdanubia" district, the school anchors ongoing urban development with a design that responds innovatively to its surroundings. The standout feature is the abundance of spacious, covered terraces that transform the facade into a vertical garden. These outdoor spaces articulate areas for learning and leisure that can be used year-round, blurring the boundaries between inside and out. Classrooms alternate with open niches, and each classroom cluster has direct access to its own sheltered terrace, allowing children to playfully discover their school's nooks and crannies. At the heart of the all-day school, a soaring atrium with reflective bridge elements instills a sense of movement and discovery. This central orientation hub connects all levels to the inviting outdoor terraces. Even interior spaces like the library offer views to the verdant school garden through full-height glazing. On breaks, pupils can quickly escape to the gardens via large stairs and even a slide from upper floors. Some sports facilities remain open to the public after hours, enhancing the neighborhood's amenities. With its clever connectedness to nature and community, the school exemplifies forward-thinking educational design. Founded in 2017 through the merger of two independent Viennese practices, Franz&Sue has swiftly risen as one of Austria's most successful and innovative architectural voices. - ID 住宅 Wahana Architects | Archicasting
Feature: Project - Nestled within a housing complex in Yakarta, Indonesia, the recently completed ID House by Wahana Architects masterfully blends indoor and outdoor living across its 500 square meters. Guiding the design is a central goal - to create shared spaces that encourage connection between family members. This ethos manifests through thoughtful spatial arrangements across the home's three floors, culminated by a large central void that bridges communal areas. Split across tri-level floors, the home features an open-plan first floor that dissolves boundaries between living spaces and the outdoor garden. The seamless flow between interior and exterior creates a tranquil environment in harmony with nature. Upstairs, the second floor houses private bedrooms alongside a family room and home office connected by the open void. This impressive architectural feat forges cohesion between the family room below and dining area above, promoting togetherness. Crowning the home, the third floor provides quiet personal retreats with the master bedroom and children's bedrooms. Dedicated to relaxation and solitude, these rooms allow privacy while the lower levels remain communal. From its tranquil integration of indoor/outdoor to impressive floating architectural details, the ID House is a testament to design that connects. Design Team - Believing architecture transcends forms to shape lives, Wahana Architects places people at the heart of their humanistic design process. Rather than forcing inhabitable spaces to conform to rigid plans, the studio adapts flowing forms to satisfy user needs. This psychology-driven approach stems from a conviction that buildings failing user needs fail their very purpose. Success lies not in visual appeal alone but in understanding personalities, fulfilling identities, and enabling connections. Such harmony between spaces and inhabitants enables true dwelling. From initial concepts to supervised construction, Wahana Architects' holistic process attunes buildings to those they serve. Through intimate client collaboration, they craft resonant spaces where people feel understood, at home with themselves and others. Such thoughtfulness breathed life into their award-winning INDE Shortlisted and ArchDaily nominated projects. 500 m² Yakarta, INDONESIA 2023 Previous Next
OYO Architects | Archicasting
Project Name: Lyco House Location: Pepingen, Belgium Design Team: OYO Architects Total Floor Area: 312 m² Completion: 2024 Photography: Karen Van der Biest Feature: Belgian architecture studio OYO Architects completed the Lyco House project in Pepingen, creating a contemporary sustainable home that exemplifies how bold architectural intervention can transform historic barns into modern living spaces. The project is positioned within the green countryside less than 30 kilometers from Brussels, drawing inspiration from Belgium's rural heritage to create an architectural work that both celebrates agricultural building traditions and embodies innovative adaptive reuse strategies. The project's most compelling design feature lies in its strategic spatial reconfiguration through a dramatic triangular cut carved from the original barn volume. Rather than choosing conventional renovation approaches, the architects masterfully created a central courtyard that transforms the previously dark and enclosed space into a light-filled sanctuary. This ingenious triangular intervention not only floods the interior with natural light but also generates fluid transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces while maintaining the traditional barn facade that preserves the building's agricultural character. The building's spatial choreography unfolds through carefully orchestrated levels, mezzanines, and double-height spaces connected by a striking geometric green steel staircase custom-designed by Atelier Manus. This vertical dialogue enhances the sense of spaciousness within the compact footprint, connecting bedrooms with living areas, kitchen with garden, and living room with elevated terrace, effectively blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior environments. The living spaces center around the kitchen, where a large salmon pink island stands out as a bold focal point. The light pine wood ceiling contrasts with polished grey cement floors, while custom-made dark wood furniture by Hout en Interieur adds warmth and craftsmanship. The living room, positioned on a slightly higher level above the kitchen, features a suggestive wooden ceiling and large windows that open onto the outdoor terrace, creating a unique spatial experience. Material selection demonstrates exceptional sensitivity to heritage and innovation. Carefully selected furniture in neutral tones is complemented by chromatic accents in green and terracotta, generating a soft and natural atmosphere in a warm and balanced environment. To ensure thermal comfort, sustainability, and energy efficiency, OYO Architects incorporated ecological and circular materials during construction, completely renovating the old asbestos roof and installing solar panels and other eco-technologies throughout the house. Denis Dujardin's landscape design plays a crucial role in shaping the setting, achieving fluid and respectful integration with the surrounding rural landscape through the use of local vegetation. Additionally, an ingenious and discrete solution has been developed to manage the area's excess rainwater, channeling it into a natural pond where it is purified and gradually filtered into the ground. Lyco House represents a thoughtful adaptive reuse approach, demonstrating how historic agricultural buildings can be transformed to meet contemporary living needs while respecting their original essence and environmental responsibility. Design Team - OYO Architects stands as a distinguished Belgian architectural practice that has established an exceptional reputation in innovative sustainable design. Founded by Nigel Jooren, Eddy Soete, Veroniek Vanhaecke, Lies Willaert, and Ferran Massip in 2011 and based in Ghent and Barcelona, under the creative direction of founding partner Nigel Jooren and design direction of partner Ferran Massip, the firm has developed a reputation for creating innovative solutions across residential, community development, and industrial architecture typologies. OYO Architects brings exceptional multidisciplinary collaborative experience and deep understanding of sustainable building practices to the practice. Under the leadership of founding partners, supported by a 25-person team including designers, architects, urban planners, and consultative specialists, the practice has garnered recognition for its commitment to ecosystem thinking and dedication to craftsmanship. This combination of holistic approach with contemporary design innovation positions OYO Architects uniquely within Europe's architectural landscape. The firm's design philosophy emphasizes that spatial purpose is as important as architectural execution, not rushing to standardized architectural solutions but believing that architecture should be a result of thorough understanding of social, environmental, and economic sustainability. Through intensive collaboration with clients, they define the project's spatial purpose—the positive impact the space should have on those that inhabit it. OYO Architects believes that the best spaces provide the setting for people to be at their best, challenging convention to reveal the true potential of space. Through this thoughtful synthesis of generous homes, thriving communities, and regenerative industry, OYO Architects has established itself as a significant contributor to contemporary architectural discourse, creating architectural works that are both rooted in place and embrace global design vision. 2024 Previous Next

Led by partner Jason Long, the 2,072 square meter complex adeptly reinvents the early 20th century warehouse, turning spaces of disrepair into architectural virtues. The building's former state of ruin, with sections of roof and walls missing, becomes the project's driving concept. OMA capitalizes on these voids by inserting a 2,000 square meter courtyard at the heart of the complex, serving as a vibrant public gateway and community condenser. This central outdoor space provides the primary entrance and frontage for all tenants including two local arts nonprofits - SignalReturn and Progressive Arts Studio Collective. Embracing an "open city" ethos, the design strings together various programs to maximize accessibility and interaction. Production zones and studios animate the Amity Street facade, while galleries line the courtyard reinforcing its public significance. Retail and community amenities consolidate along busy Kercheval Avenue, blending interior functions with streetlife. With raw industrial aesthetics and clever adaptive reuse strategies, LANTERN exemplifies an ingenious new arts anchor for Detroit's resurging creative fabric. Design Team - Founded in 1975 by Rem Koolhaas, OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture) has evolved into a leading international architectural practice renowned for its avant-garde designs and theoretical explorations. - OZBE咖啡馆 KKOL Studio | Archicasting
Project Name: OZBE Cafe Location: Andong,South Korea Design Team: KKOL Studio Project Area: 495 m² Completion Date: 2025 Construction: IAAP STUDIO Photography: Donggyu Kim Feature: Project - In a striking convergence of industrial aesthetics and organic vitality, OZBE Cafe by KKOL Studio emerges as a masterful exploration of contrast in Andong's vibrant cafe scene. This 495-square-meter establishment, completed in 2025, reimagines the conventional cafe typology by integrating a premium fruit market with sophisticated lounging spaces across four meticulously crafted floors. The project's conceptual foundation draws inspiration from an unlikely source: flowers emerging from concrete crevices. This poetic interpretation manifests throughout the space, where raw concrete surfaces create a deliberately austere backdrop for the vibrant display of fresh fruits and carefully curated vegetation. KKOL Studio's approach challenges the expected discord between industrial materials and organic elements, instead crafting a harmonious dialogue that enhances both. The spatial programming reflects a thoughtful vertical hierarchy: the ground floor houses the fruit market, establishing an immediate connection with street-level activity, while the upper floors transition into more intimate lounging spaces. The material palette is anchored by the interplay between exposed concrete and warm maple hardwood, creating a sophisticated foundation that allows the colorful produce to become an integral part of the interior design scheme. What sets OZBE apart is its inclusive design approach, addressing the diverse needs of its anticipated clientele. The studio has developed a series of bespoke furniture pieces that appeal to multiple generations – from playful curved benches with slatted details that intrigue younger visitors to ergonomically considered seating arrangements for mature patrons. This attention to multi-generational functionality elevates the space beyond mere aesthetic consideration into a truly user-centric environment. The result is a revolutionary retail-cafe hybrid that transcends conventional categorization, where industrial architecture serves as a canvas for celebrating natural abundance, and where every design decision reinforces the core concept of vital energy emerging from structural austerity. Design Team - KKOL Studio, established in July 2021 in South Korea, has rapidly emerged as a notable presence in contemporary spatial design. Under the leadership of founding partners Euisun Yoon and Hongbeom An, the practice operates as an intimate atelier-style studio, bringing a meticulous approach to architectural and interior interventions across various scales. The studio's design philosophy centers on the democratization of spatial quality, rejecting the conventional hierarchy of project scale in favor of a more nuanced, narrative-driven approach. Their methodology is characterized by a holistic design process that considers every spatial element as an integral part of the overall architectural composition. Since its inception, KKOL Studio has developed a distinctive portfolio that spans retail, hospitality, and commercial sectors. Their work is marked by a sophisticated understanding of materiality and an ability to create immersive spatial experiences that transcend typical programmatic constraints. The studio's recent completion of OZBE Cafe exemplifies their talent for balancing raw architectural elements with refined details and thoughtful programming. The practice maintains its creative integrity through a deliberately selective approach to commissions, operating with a core team of four designers who oversee all aspects of the design process, from conceptual development through to material specification and construction documentation. This hands-on methodology ensures a consistent level of quality and attention to detail across all projects. 2025 Previous Next

Feature: Project - Set amidst a lush woodland on a vast, flat plot in western Japan, House Y by Hayato Komatsu Architects adopts an innovative radial plan that allows the dwelling to engage with its picturesque surroundings from multiple vantage points. The secluded site offers tranquil views of the Seto Inland Sea to the northwest and dramatic mountains capes to the southeast. Rather than situating the house in isolation amid this expansive landscape, the architects devised a branching layout inspired by the form of a tree. A central living pavilion anchors the plan, with private bedroom wings radiating outward like boughs. Wider sections along these wings create lounge areas that blur the boundaries between indoors and out. The further one moves from the main living space toward the bedrooms, the more intimate and compressed the spaces become through lowered ceilings. This subtle compression and release heightens the sense of journey. Floor-to-ceiling glazing along the radiating wings frames shifting perspectives of the natural scenery with each step. Exterior spaces are delicately subdivided into a series of gardens tailored to distinct views - one framing the sunset, another the sea, a courtyard catching morning light, and so on. Residents can wander this secluded paradise, discovering anew its varied charms with each season and time of day. Through its innovative branching form, House Y poetically intertwines architecture and landscape into a unified, constantly unfolding experience. Design Team - Founded in 2009 by Hayato Komatsu, the eponymous HAYATO KOMATSU ARCHITECTS has emerged as one of Japan's most innovative architectural practices. Based in Hiroshima, the firm takes a multidisciplinary approach, offering services in architecture, interior design, landscape, and product design. Under Komatsu's leadership as Principal Architect, along with Directors Ryoko Komatsu, Shinmei Chono, Shinro Ueki, Naoji Natsume, Suzumi Nishihara, and Shuguma Tanaka, the firm has gained worldwide recognition for its sleek, site-specific designs that poetically interweave the built and natural environments. Guided by a philosophy of finding the "gray" between architectural black and environmental white, their award-winning residential works skillfully negotiate boundaries while fostering comfortable living spaces imbued with a sense of openness and connection to context. HAYATO KOMATSU ARCHITECTS' refined yet warm modernism has earned publication in numerous prestigious journals.
2023 Previous Next

- Havenwood住宅 Atlas Architects | Archicasting
2025 Previous Next

2025 Previous Next
